Lorie Nelson, Owner of Signature Virtual Assistance

Lorie Nelson

Lorie Nelson is the owner of the firm. For the first 32 years of her career, she was an Executive Assistant and bookkeeper. On a motorcycle trip with her husband to Alaska, the idea of owning her own business kept growing and growing in her mind. When she got home, she researched her idea, realized she is a highly qualified Virtual Assistant, and set up shop! Within a weekend she had her first client! She was well on her way to helping small business owners take their businesses to the next level.

Lorie’s other business goal is to grow her business to the point of needing to hire professional women who are looking for a better work/life balance. Going to a building to work a 9AM-5PM (or longer) job is no longer the only option for women. In most families, women are still the ones who hold the family together, and Lorie firmly believes that women need a better way of using their skills, earning an income, and holding their families together.  That goal was fulfilled in 2021 with the hiring of her first staff member!

Having a skilled professional on staff has allowed Lorie the ability to focus on marketing her business and providing basic bookkeeping support to small businesses. Administrative support is provided by her first staff member and outstanding assistant, Jayme Spainhour.

An Award-Winning Opportunity

In 2017 Lorie was encouraged to participate in the local Small Business Administration’s InnovateHER contest. The SBA established this contest in 2015 to identify innovative products and services that help impact and empower women’s lives. The criteria is for women participants to create products or services that have a measurable impact on the lives of women and families, the potential for commercialization, and fills a need in the marketplace.

Experience, a clear vision for her business, and a goal of hiring professional women pushed Lorie ahead of her competitors at the local level. She won the 2017 InnovateHer contest! This prestigious award has assisted her firm in continued growth and assures her clients they are in very capable hands!
